Euphoric punk with Sky Creature
We'll be listening to live electronic electro-pop by Sky Creature Friday, October 8th.... don’t miss out on this unique performance! NYC based Majel Connery is a vocalist and composer making electro-art-dream-pop with repressed Classical influences. Borrowing eclectically from opera, pop, and electronic music, her sound blends dreamy with arty, favoring massive, shifting textures and lyrical climaxes. Connery’s voice has been called “superb” by the New York Times and her composition “thoroughly Schubertian” by the Wall Street Journal. She is currently touring in support of her forthcoming solo EP, Childworld, and Bear Mountain, the debut EP of her NYC-based post-punk band Sky Creature, with Matt Walsh (of The Forms). Her discography includes two chamber pop records with composer collective, Oracle Hysterical (National Sawdust Tracks); a digital album with WYNC podcast, Radiolab; and two independently-released solo EPs. An artist with a Ph.D., Connery holds advanced degrees from the University of Chicago, and taught as a professor of musicology at UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Princeton before becoming a full-time musician.
