Headquartered 8,000 feet above sea level in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Prairiewolf offers a fresh and free-flowing slice of cosmic/organic Americana — spiritual instrumentals driven by Fender Rhodes, lap steel, mellotron, guitar, synth, bass and an assortment of vintage drum machines. The band’s self-titled 2023 debut was likened to a “Harmonia residency in an airport lounge.” Its latest LP, Deep Time (Centripetal Force/Worried Songs), is a lush kaleidoscope of sunbaked psychedelia, primitive prog, and loopy space-age jazz that wound up on more than a few year-end best-of’s.
